Abstract

|
This study was undertaken in order to investigate the effect of copper on the localization of retinol-binding protein (RBP) in rat hepatocytes. Sprague-Dawley rats weighing about 200 gm were administered with copper sulfate intraperitoneally for one or two months by group respectively. Immunocytochemical study using protein A gold technique were carried out.
1. RBP immunoreactive gold particles were reduced by copper administration in the hepatocytes.
2. RBP immunoreactive gold particles were mainly localized in the lipid droplets of hepatocytes in two months copper treated group.
3. RBP immunoreactive gold particles were nearly disappeared in the bile canaliculi of two months copper treated group.
